The Alabama Room is a special collection of local history and genealogy materials.  The materials in the collection pertain to Autauga County and the City of Prattville as well as other counties in Alabama and the southeast.  This collection was created through a collaboration of the Autauga County Genealogical Society and the Autauga Prattville Public Library.  Many of the materials previously housed at the Autauga County Heritage Association are now available in the Alabama Room.

In addition to monographs, a collection of Family Files will soon be available to researchers.  Volunteers from the ACGS are currently working on the Family Files to make them usable for researchers.  The library welcomes contributions to the family files.  Send your family history materials to the library at 254 Doster Street, Prattville, AL 36067.

The library also welcomes donations of books and microforms to the collection.  Our goal is to double the size of the collection in the next two years.  Please share a copy of your family history or consider making a cash donation to purchase materials for the collection.

Genealogy Questions

The staff of the library is small and cannot take on in-depth research questions.  We will try to answer very specific questions only.  Example:  Do you have a marriage record for John Doe around 1860 in Autauga County?  We will also pass along your query to members of the Autauga Genealogical  Society.

Please email your specific questions to jearnest@appl.info
