Patron Services of the Autauga-Prattville Public Libraries

  • Library Cards:

Library cards are free to Autauga County residents.  Proof of name and residence must be provided before completing the registration card.  Acceptable forms of ID include a driver's license, utility bill or checkbook.  Non-residents are required to pay a $15.00 fee per library card.  There is a $3.00 replacement fee for lost or damaged cards.  Please let us know of any name or address changes.

  • Borrowing:

Check-out period for books is two (2) weeks.  The due date will be stamped on a due date slip inside the books.  Your first check-out is limited to two books per card.  During school months, there is a two book per subject per household limit.

  • Returning Items:

Books may be returned to the book drop.  Videos, CDs, DVDs, etc. and other non-book materials MUST be returned to the circulation Desk.

  • Fine and Overdue Notices:

Fines are effective from the first day the item is due.  There is a charge of ten cents per book per day.  There is a charge of fifty cents per video or audio material per day.  If fines are not paid when items are returned, the charges will be on your record.  When fines accumulated to $5.00 or more, you must reduce the fines below $5.00 or library privileges will be suspended.

  • Lost Items:

If library materials are not returned, you will be billed the price of the materials plus a $2.00 processing fee.  In addition, your record will be blocked and you will no longer have borrowing privileges.

  • Reserves/Holds:

If an item that you would like is not available because it is checked out, we will put a hold on it for you.  You may request the item in person or by telephone.

  • Interlibrary Loans:

If we do not have a particular book or any books on a subject in our collection that you need, we may be able to get it on Interlibrary Loan (ILL).  It takes from one to four weeks to fill the ILL request.  A non-refundable processing fee of at least $1.00 per item is due upon request.

  • Renewals:

Items may be renewed for another check-out period if no holds are on the item.  Renewing an overdue book does not erase fines.  Renewals may be done by telephone or in person.  Call 334-365-3396 to renew books.
