Notary Services

Notary services are available at the Prattville Library at no cost, patrons are urged to call ahead and make sure that the Notary is available.  Patrons are urged to read their document carefully to ascertain the proper documents that should be provided at the time of the signing.  The Notary must witness the person sign the document(s) and the proper identification must be provided.  Also, if an additional witness is required to witness and sign the document then that person must be at the signing.  

Patrons are asked to bring their picture ID when they come to have documents notarized.

Please note – Notary services are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10am-3pm. 

The library provides notary services free to all patrons.
A current valid photo ID is required for notary services. Acceptable forms of ID are:

  • Driver’s license
  • Non-driver ID issued by the Motor Vehicle Commission
  • US or foreign passport
  • US military ID
  • Green card

Documents in any language other than English will not be notarized. Library Notaries are not able to give legal advice.

Library Notaries cannot pre or postdate any document.

The signature line should not be completed beforehand. Notaries must see the document be signed.

The Library does not provide witnesses. If the document requires a witness, the patron must bring the witness with them. A witness must be personally known and cannot be a stranger in the library.

Library Notaries reserve the right to decline service for any reason.
